Victor Previn

Executive Chairman

Victor Previn joined the Board in 2001 and is one of the company’s original founders. A professional engineer with more than 30 years of experience in the ophthalmic industry, he previously served as Managing Director from 2003 to 2005 and has been Chairman since 2005. Victor is a member of the Audit and Risk Committee, the Remuneration Committee and the Nomination Committee.

Tom Spurling

Executive Director

Tom Spurling was CEO of Ellex Medical Lasers (ASX: ELX) from 2011 to 2019 and was appointed an Executive Director of Nova Eye Medical in 2020. He has more than 30 years of international business development experience across ophthalmic, defense and commercial markets, including complex products in highly regulated environments. He previously served as Managing Director and General Manager of Tenix LADS Corporation. Tom holds a degree in Economics and is a Chartered Accountant.

Rahmon Coupe

Independent Director

Rahmon Coupe was appointed an Independent Director in 2013. He has more than 30 years of experience across corporate management, intellectual property management, contract negotiation, business development and engineering. Rahmon has held project and engineering management roles in government research-based organizations, including the Defence Science and Technology Organisation (DSTO). He holds an Honors Degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Adelaide and was awarded Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year in Technology and Emerging Industries for the Central Region of Australia in 2009. He is a member of the Remuneration Committee and the Audit and Risk Committee.

Mike Southard

Executive Director

Mike Southard was appointed as an Executive Director in 2018 and completed his executive role in December 2019. He spent 26 years with Alcon Laboratories, including as Vice President of the Global Surgical business. Prior to Alcon, he held executive positions with Beecham Laboratories (now SmithKline Beecham) and CooperVision, which was acquired by Alcon. He remains active across ophthalmology, dermatology and orthopedics through his consulting company. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business from Oregon State University and an Executive MBA from Stanford University.

Dan Webb

Independent Director

Dan Webb is based in Toronto, Canada and has more than 40 years of experience in the marketing, sale and distribution of medical devices. After 10 years in ophthalmic device sales roles, he joined the medical laser company Coherent. In 1990, he founded Coherent-AMT, now known as Clarion Medical Technologies, to import, market, sell and distribute medical devices in Canada across ophthalmic, aesthetic and surgical categories. Clarion grew to approximately $100 million in annual revenue and was sold to a multinational distribution business in 2020.
